Assist. Prof. Dr. Diyar Mayi, the Director of the Center for Material Science and Nanotechnology (CMSNano, Department of Physics) and Wasfiya Ali Muneer (Lecture from the Department of Physics) visited the “Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften – (ISAS) “ in Dortmund/Germany on 10.06.2021. The visit was supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with a fund of 200k€ for the two years. The funding is within the program of German-Iraqi Academic Partnerships that have been accepted by the (DAAD) for 2021-2022.
It’s worth mentioning that the goal of this project is to initiate a research relationship between the “Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften – (ISAS) “ in Dortmund/Germany and the center of (CMSNano) from the University Of Zakho (UOZ). This fund is the result of the visit made by Assist. Prof. Dr. Diyar Mayi, the director of (CMSNano) to “(ISAS) “ in Dortmund/Germany in 09.09.2019.
The ISAS is an advanced German analytical institute with a creative interactive international environment and collaboration and has noticeable outputs in supporting and linking with developing countries. The German partner is specialized in nanotechnology with bio-medical oriented. Within the two years of the program, Dr. Diyar Mayi and MSc. Wasfiya Ali Muneer works on developing and improving a system called surface plasmon resonance (SPR) which is mainly used for detecting viruses, bacteria and other protein molecular.
Likewise, they will design an SPR system and fabricate specific chips for the SPR system that will be used for bio-medical applications. It’s worth noting that this is the fifth time Dr. Diyar Mayi gets this program with different partnerships.
