In the presence of Dr. Nadhim S. Abdulaziz, President of the University of Zakho, and Abdulselam Medeni, Executive Director of Rwanga Foundation, the University of Zakho launched a campaign entitled “Forest Project” in cooperation with Rwanga Foundation on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
The project aims at the afforestation of 10 acres of land at the University of Zakho. As a result, the project is going to plant 5000 trees to provide many benefits to the university environment in addition to adding beauty and elegance to the university image. Notably, 3500 trees have been planted so far.
The Executive Director of Rwanga Foundation discussed the significance of conducting the project stating that this campaign is an awareness message in order to preserve the environment and increase the green spaces that Iraq suffers from in general. Moreover, he added that these campaigns were launched in many other governorates, where they will contribute effectively to increasing the percentage of oxygen and a healthy environment.
