On October 10, 2023, World Mental Health Day was commemorated by the Department of General Psychology at the University of Zakho by arranging events and activities in which the department's students took part by presenting lectures and conducting awareness sessions on the value of mental health.

The Program was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Zahid S. Muhammad, Head of the Department, and Dr. Jihan H. Omar. Further, the Program targeted school students, teachers, some organization employees, and university students.

Overall, World Mental Health Day is an opportunity for communities to unite behind the theme ‘Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” to improve knowledge, raise awareness, and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right.
