Seminar About the Islamic Conquest of Hispania and al-Andalus and the Story of the Burning Ships of Tariq Ibn Ziyad

On Tuesday, the 15th of December 2015, Dr. Mohammed Sadiq, lecturer at the Department of History, presented a seminar about the Islamic Conquest of Hispania and al-Andalus and the Story of the Burning Ships of Tariq Ibn Ziyad at the Seminar Hall of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Zakho. Dr. Mohammed Sadiq focused on the, from his point of view, false assumption that Tariq Ibn Ziyad, a prominent military commander of the Umayyad Caliphate, burnt his own ships during the Battle of Wadi Birbat. The seminar was accompanied by an intensive interaction between the presenter and the participants which led to constructive debates during the seminar.
