On the 10th of June 2015, Dr. Lokman Aziz Abdulkarim represented the University of Zakho in a meeting which was led by Dr. Haval Amedi, the General Director of Duhok Municipalities. The meeting was held in the Municipalities Council building in the Duhok governorate by the presence of stakeholders and representatives of the Directorate of Preserving the Environment, the Directorate of Industry, the Provincial Council and all other provincial main offices which are concerned about the issue of the environmental pollution. The discussions focused mainly on the issue of the negative impact of pollution resulting from oil refining plants in Kashe on the environment. Furthermore, the discussions of the participants covered alternative ways, based on scientific suggestions to solve this issue.
