Under the slogan " Peshmarga Forces and Education Are The Keys to The Independence of Kurdistan" the University of Zakho celebrated its 6th commencement ceremony for the academic year 2016-2017 on Sunday, the 20th of November, 2016 in the sports Hall of the university and in the presence of the Mr. Karim Abdul, Advisor of the minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research KRG, heads of departments, surrogate of Zakho, political and academic figures, directors of governmental institutions and media department.

At the beginning, the president of the university, Assist.Prof. Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jameel, and the vice president for students' affairs, Prof. Dr. Abd Al-Wahab Khalid Mosa, made a speech by which they welcomed the guests and the attendances and also congratulated the graduates wishing them success. Afterwards, Mr. Karim Abdul, Advisor of the minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research KRG, congratulated the graduates and talked about the role of the University of Zakho and the development witnessed in the scientific and academic fields and wished them all the success. Then the graduates were awarded certificates of Bachelor by the president of the university.

At the end of the ceremony, Assist. Prof. Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jameel, gave a speech praising Prof. Dr. Omer AL-Habib, previous vice president of the university for the scientific affairs and postgraduate studies, for the important role he had at the university and the unlimited efforts he has given serving the university both ; in academic and scientific fields.
