About Department

The department of Civil and Environmental Engineering was established in 2021, it is the third department within College of Engineering at University of Zakho.

It is the first undergraduate course offering a combined degree in civil and environmental engineering as both fields are connected together. Students will study a range of civil and environmental engineering modules to gain deep knowledge, skills and experience required to combat challenges and solve engineering problems in civil and environmental engineering. Civil engineers plan, design, build, and maintain facilities which are essential to our civilization such as: bridges, dams, highways, transit systems, airports, tunnels, irrigation systems, water supply, and industrial and commercial buildings. Graduates are expected to find work with government ministries and agencies as well as in private sector as design engineers, construction engineers or becoming self-employed and contractors.

Department Mission & Vision

Mission:-

Our mission is to provide excellent educational and professional experience to produce creative, skilled and talented engineers, and to conduct researches that develop and improve state of knowledge in the professions. Ultimately, serving well-being of the public, contributing to the construction industry of the region and maintaining the natural and built environment towards a sustainable development by incorporating environmental friendly martials and design in civil engineering industry.

Vision:-

The department vision is to deliver excellent teaching program to achieve national recognition by providing outstanding teaching and research experience. The department aims to have a leading role in the civil and environmental engineering professions and to equip graduate students with required knowledge and tools to combat and overcome engineering problems and to address rising challenges in both fields.

Objectives:-

Objectives of the new department are to enable graduate students to be creative, productive and positively contribute to the professions. Also, engage students in understanding and applying new ideas and concepts as the fields develop. As well as ensuring that graduate engineers will contribute to the structural development of the society, promote health & safety in the construction industry, and ensure the welfare of the environment and public through professional practice and civic leadership.
