The University of Zakho's Grand Celebration of World Engineering Day

Under the slogan “Navigating the Nexus: Overcoming Contemporary Challenges in University-Industry Collaboration," the University of Zakho commemorates World Engineering Day in the College of Administration and Economics on March 6, 2024.

After a moment of silence observed as a tribute to the souls of the martyrs, the welcoming speech was read by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Farsat H. Abdulrahman. Then, in his speech, the General Director of the Office of Engineering and Projects in the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Blind I. Dizay, emphasized the crucial role engineers play in determining the future, stressed the value of sustainable development, and highlighted the role of the college in strengthening relations between the university and the industrial sector. It is worth mentioning that this is the college’s second year celebrating World Engineering Day, and this celebration serves as a platform to enhance the collaborative relationship between academia and industry.

As a part of the celebration, a discussion panel moderated by the Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Najm al-Din Izz al-Din, was convened under the title “Strengthening the Relationship between the University and the Industrial Sector to Overcome Modern Obstacles.”

The panel was comprised of the General Director of Engineering and Projects in the Ministry of Higher Education and Education, Dr. Blind I. Dizay; the Executive Director and Founder of the Kurdistan Innovation Institute, Dr. Azad Najar; the Zakho Independent Administration Engineer, Heja M. Tawfiq; the Supervisor of the Kurdistan Engineers Union-Zakho Branch, Eng. Nechirvan Hashim; and the College of Engineering teacher, Ms. Diman Z. Jacksi.

Each of these specialists delved deeply into the topic, conveying various insights to the attendees and bringing attention to the key aspects that are significant for the future of students and engineering departments.

 

Ultimately, awards were distributed to the finest engineers in Zakho City as well as active teachers in each of the college's three engineering departments, and the teachers’ projects were presented to the participants.
